Stefan Ulbricht was born in Bonn in February, 1982. Already at the age of 5, he became interested in music and started to take guitar lessons. At the age of 14 he switched to the piano and was infected by the „boogie and blues virus“ in 1997 while watching boogie and blues on tv.

His audience is enjoyed by his fast and melodious boogies as well as jazz and blues songs from the 30‘s, 40‘s and 50‘s.

The rolling bass figures, played with his pounding left hand, and the swinging melody are his trademarks.

For more than 10 years he has been playing concerts in and around Germany. He recorded four CDs and received the German Boogie Woogie Award „Pinetop“ in the category „Rising Star 2009“.

Both, Stefan Ulbricht (born in 1982) and Moritz Schlömer (born in 1987) are playing their instruments since childhood and jazz and boogie woogie roused them to passion.They first met during the German Music Fair at Frankfurt in 2005.

Immediately they discovered that their skills on piano and drums could be combined properly. After a few jam sessions in various pubs they started to interchange musical ideas. It didn‘t take long for them to appear on stage as a duo on piano and drums.

This gig was a big success and it was intended to extend the collaboration. Numerous gigs in Germany and other countries followed and they got better and better together, both as musicians and as friends.

Therefore, it is hardly surprising that they are also able to easily transfer the fun and the passion, sensed while playing to the audience. Over the years they have developed a comprehensive and diversified programme - and they are always good for something unexpected. This is especially reflected by the new CD „Big Bigger Boogie“.

Stefan Ulbricht and Moritz Schlömer simply stand for boogie woogie at its best.

One of the greatest concerts in the history of jazz and blues, the Spritiual to Swing Concert, took place at the Carnegie Hall in New York on December 23, 1938, initiated by John Hammond. Besides the famous Big Bands the stars of this concert were Albert Ammons, Pete Johnson and Meade ‚Lux‘ Lewis, unknowns by then. After this concert a boogie woogie craze started to spread all over the world. You only need a piano and ten fast and powerful fingers to sound like a big band.

More than 70 years after this breakthrough of boogie woogie, another three pianists vitalize this style of music anew. Stefan Ulbricht, Michael van den Valentyn and Moritz Schlömer are playing most powerful on two pianos, whereas Moritz Schlömer also shows his skills as a fine boogie drummer.
